The morning starts with a wonderful breakfast of muesli, seeds, nuts, and freshly picked raspberries, with local apple juice from Michael and Chrissie’s farm, Bentley’s. Ken and Anni are off singing in Gloucester and leave me to catch up on my writing; today’s; walk is also short;

Within Sight of May Hill (Day 133) August 8th

The morning starts late for me after a quiet time writing up my blog in bed, and then breakfast with Rachel overlooking her beautiful new raised beds. This is the first year she has grown her own vegand she is delighted with her sweetcorn, and marvels at the squash plant

I talk to Glen Powell, my host at Tan House Farm, over breakfast and learnt that she is near to retirement and does not advertise anymore and I feel lucky Ainsleigh of Hay discovered her, for I have treasured my peaceful time here in Abbey Dore far from the madding

Of Song, Wild Raspberries, and Abbey Dore (Day 131) August 6th

I leave Hay on Wye reluctantly; it has much the same pull on me as my home town of Totnes. I look behind me repeatedly, turning my head to gaze upon it till it finally disappears from sight as I climb, climb, climb, up into the hills and head south
