What are healthy rhythms for making change within ourselves, our teams, and the wider systems we’re part of? This question has been alive within the TNI team over the past year, both individually and collectively. We’ve taken steps toward **healthier ways of working together** by holding regular team wellbeing meetings, creating informal spaces for peer connection, experimenting with a Reading and Learning week, and continuing to cultivate a culture where people feel safe to offer honest feedback and ask for support. We are not perfect, rather, we are a work in progress. As we move into 2026, we remain committed to learning our way toward more sustainable team rhythms.

In a recent check-in, team members also shared how they’re exploring healthier rhythms in their personal lives: eating more nourishing food, returning to slower forms of learning through magazines and regular reading, setting boundaries around email, moving their bodies more, and consuming less bombastic media. Working closely together, we can clearly see how intertwined the personal and the collective truly are. Our small team is a microcosm of wider change, and this lived experience echoes what Jill Kubit’s [research](https://rapidtransition.org/resources/individual-behaviour-and-system-change-how-they-are-connected/?ref=news.transitionnetwork.org) highlights, ***that individual actions influence others and help create the conditions for broader social and political transformation.***

Are there any healthy rhythms you are stepping into this year? We would love to hear. If you feel inspired, feel free to share on [Community Waves](https://communitywaves.space/user/registration/by-link?token=i6xp0fuc-f8B%5FI&spaceId=30&ref=news.transitionnetwork.org)!

With love,

## Resources

- You might find helpful this Guide - Burnout to balance: doing and being.

[Burnout to Balance: Doing and Being - Transition Network ResourcesBurnout is common to many social change movements, showing up similarly on all levels – for individuals, groups, and the planet. The Transition movement aims to address planetary depletion, what some view as burnout on a large scale – human systems that deplete resources, not allowing enough time for natural systems to replenish and revitalise. Any system, group, or individual that uses its resources faster than they can replenish will steadily deplete them. Burnout can result from consistent depletion over a long time, with many naturally restorative processes disrupted. Typically some kind of intervention or change is required to restore a more self-nourishing balance.![](https://news.transitionnetwork.org/content/images/icon/apple-touch-icon.png.pagespeed.ce.0p-hi9blHP.png)Transition Network ResourcesRoot Cuthbertson (2020)![](https://news.transitionnetwork.org/content/images/thumbnail/books-background-2.jpg)](https://resources.transitionnetwork.org/resources/burnout-to-balance-doing-being/?ref=news.transitionnetwork.org)

- Meg-John Barker's zine **Staying With Our Feelings** is all about why it’s important to cultivate the capacity to stay with our feelings, and how we can go about doing that. Hopefully working through the zine will help you to figure out your own emotional landscape.
